Minor flash flood hits Kampar again

The unresolved water drainage problem at Kampar causes another minor flash flood on heavy downpour.

After a heavy downpour at 2pm that lasted for about 1 hour, water began accumulating rapidly by the roadside near the junction between Jalan Universiti and Jalan Batu Sinar, and Jalan Hala Timah 3 of Bandar Baru Kampar.

On the main road of Jalan Batu Sinar, the accumulated water has caused challenges for the moving vehicles to drive through the flooded road. Several vehicles were almost stranded in the rising waters.

Meanwhile at Jalan Hala Timah 3 of Bandar Baru Kampar, the flood has overflowed the roadside where the vehicles are parked, causing vehicle owners facing difficulties to return to their car. The overflowing water also nearly infiltrates the shoplots.

It was known that the water drainage system at Kampar has been the main issue causing minor flash floods to happen since a long time ago, as it could not effectively divert standing water into the river.

Although there was upgrade works on the water drainage system in Kampar for the past 2 years, the flash flood issue in Kampar seems yet to be resolved.

金宝数个地区再次遭受水患入袭

金宝新街场的排水问题困扰民众许久，却迟迟未能得到妥善解决，更是在今日的一场大雨中再次引发小规模闪电水灾。

据本报记者观察，这场大雨从下午2时开始并持续了近1小时，导致大学路（Jalan Universiti）和峇都昔娜路（Jalan Batu Sinar）交界处附近的路边开始迅速积水，金宝新街场的 Jalan Hala Timah 3 也同样受积水影响。

此次的小规模闪电水灾为行驶的车辆带来了许多不便，迅速上涨的积水严重影响了停放在街道两旁的车辆，导致车主难以返回车内。街边的积水也几乎没过商店前走道，并险些渗透到商店里。

据了解，金宝长期的积水问题源自于排水系统效率低下，无法将大量的雨水引入河流。虽然其排水系统在过去两年内进行了升级工程，但问题却似乎并未根除。
