UTAR PR Students Volunteered to Send Charity Meals

UTAR Public Relations students held the Love Canteen volunteering program at Ipoh to send out charity meals. 

This volunteering program was carried out as the students' final project, aiming to send love and care to those who are in need.

They approached a charity organization in Ipoh named Ai Xin Fan Tang, and proposed to help them in food preparation and delivery on February 27 and March 5. 

During those two days, they, along with other student volunteers, arrived in Ipoh early in the morning to assist the charity organization in preparing meals for those in need. 

They were divided into several groups to wash vegetables, cut ingredients, cook the meals, and pack lunch boxes before distribution. 

A local volunteer from Ai Xin Fan Tang mentioned that, due to a large number of people facing food insecurity, they have to send charity meals to different places every day.

“The food is expensive nowadays. If we can help them to save money, why not?” she added. 

The vice chairperson of Love Canteen, Chan Lok Yi said, “Even though those two days of volunteering were tiring, we were happy as we were doing something that is meaningful.”

She also mentioned that they will be holding an exhibition on food insecurity on March 26 to 27 at Block M of UTAR Kampar.

为帮助社区贫困人士，一群金宝校区拉曼大学公关系学生于日前联合怡保“爱心饭堂”慈善机构一同进行爱心饭堂志愿者项目，通过派发爱心餐传达大学生对社会的爱心与关怀。

该项活动获得了金宝拉曼大学学生的踊跃参与，包括委员在内的约30名学生志愿者在活动当日到场分工合作，协助爱心饭堂的员工准备食材、烹饪料理、并装盒派发予怡保的民众。

一名怡保“爱心饭堂”本地志工指出，由于许多人都正在面临粮食短缺的问题，所以该机构每天都会轮流到不同的地方派送爱心餐盒。

“现在食物的价格都很贵，如果我们能帮助他们省钱那就帮助他们。”

“爱心饭堂” 学生志愿者项目副主席陈乐儿（22岁）表示，该项活动为他们的毕业项目，两天的志愿工作虽然幸苦，但却很开心，因为知道自己正在做着有意义的事。

她透露，作为毕业项目的一部分，他们也将于本月26日至27日，在金宝拉曼大学M楼举办一场关于粮食短期和安全相关的展览，希望届时学生能够踊跃参展。
